Grandmaster Flash to Appear in DJ Hero [two gameplay clips & screens included]

Grandmaster Flash to Appear in DJ Hero [two gameplay clips & screens included]
Written Thursday, July 02, 2009 by Dan Webb

Activision today announced that they had secured the services of legendary DJ, Grandmaster Flash, to play a cameo role in their upcoming DJ Hero title.

Grandmaster Flash is one of the artists who was one fundamental in introducing the turntable as a musical instrument way back when and will be contributing two never-before-released mixes to the title. As well as that, Grandmaster Flash will also lend his unique voice and DJ know-how to the game's tutorial level. Last but not least, FreeStyle Games have created an exclusive mix using two of Grandmaster Flash's original creations – "Boom" and "Tap."

To accompany the announcement, Activision released a couple of gameplay vids to show off Grandmaster Flash's cameo in the game, as well as some screens and concept art. Enjoy!

Check out the DJ Hero gallery here for all the other DJ Hero screens.

sounds like a music game for the rap and hip hop genre.
however i hope they don't blow this one out of control like guitar hero.

oh wait... its activision. of course they will.

Wow that looks like it wil be really tricky to master.

And have these people ever seen chavs/neds?
They don't listen to that.

Try stuff like Angerfist or Neophyte and you're getting closer to what they listen to.

This is looking quite nice. I was hoping they would add the classic DJ's, but I'm hoping for some heavy modern underground influence as well. I doubt it will happen though/ They're probably just going to lather on a bunch of mainstream bullshit. If they do go more independent then this might be a buy for me.

@ #11 I believe that when it goes side to side, you use the fader/cross-fader, switch thingy on the left side of the controller

Gay! Whats with the hip-hop killing the electronica I mean Black eyed peas VS Benny Bennasi what the heck I had such High hopes for this game...I hope other songs are better as the ones at the Demo. Guess I better stick to Konami's beatmania

I think its bull cuz they failed with Beatmania IIDX and now they are trying to make it kool with rap and hip hop no offense but music has died cuz of theses games.

This game needs to be pure Hip Hop. Fuck trance, house, and electronica. That fast paced raver shit need not apply. We need real purist hip hop.

@15: that probrably wont happen. Then they wont release anymore dj hero games (if they are gonna release anymore). Anyways haven't really been into rap and hip-hop, that sort of stuff but that looks pretty goos. I still wonder how you control it

this game will be good, cant stand all that head banger crap in gh and rock band but each to his own i wont slate those games for there content and dont think others should either. There is a huge fan base for this game as with gh there just 2 totally different types of music and activision are trying to catter for that.

I thought this game was more dance music than hip hop.

But if it is hip hop I would love to see some Ice Cube, NWA and Eazy E.
(Good luck with the fact that none of these music games have swearing. They should release a parental advisory version and a clean version imo).

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
